Chandigarh: While the Haryana Congress is yet to analyse reasons for its defeat in the state polls, the BJP has started exploring core issues which led to defeat in 41 assembly constituencies it lost during the assembly elections. Notably, the party's think tank in state as well as the central unit are seriously concentrating on the reasons for defeat in Sirsa, Rohtak, Hisar and Mewat. It is believed that some factors as well as leaders have been identified, after which the high command will take neccesary steps.
To start with the process, senior leaders like Mohan Lal Badoli, organisation secretary Phanindera Nath Sharma, state in-charge Satish Punia and CM Nayab Saini, along with Union minister Manohar Lal Khattar had one-to-one interaction with all the candidates who lost the elections.
“BJP is a party which continuously work to improve its performance. Our motive is to improve our results and reach out to the masses. We have more elections lined up in the future, and must focus on them,’’ said a senior state BJP leader. Reliable sources informed that some of the candidates, especially those from Nuh and Sirsa districts, had highlighted ‘non cooperation’ by local leaders who were given key responsibilities.
“We highlighted how the leaders, who claimed to be supporting us, were directly and indirectly lobbying for Congress candidates. We have forwarded the list of such individuals to our leaders. Now, it is up to the party to take action,” said one of the four candidates fielded by the BJP from Mewat. Notably, the exercise is seen as a crucial one, as civic polls are to be held soon.
